The inspiration behind this photo series comes from the creators’ recognition of the beauty of the Moei River, a tributary of the Salween River. Originating in Phop Phra District, Tak Province, the river flows northward through Mae Sot, Mae Ramat, and Tha Song Yang districts before joining the Salween River in Mae Hong Son Province.

Equally inspiring is the simple way of life of the communities along the Moei River. The river is an integral part of their daily existence—supporting consumption, agriculture, and transportation. It also fosters bonds of friendship, love, and shared beliefs among the riverside communities.

Furthermore, the Moei River serves as a natural border between Thailand and Myanmar and has long played a vital role in water-based trade between the two countries, from the past to the present.
